Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into energy, either directly using photovoltaic (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking methods to spotlight a huge area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic transfers light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. Each of these two types of solar energy requires the manufacture of two single kinds of solar panels.
One is called a solar collector that is used to heat water and then supply it in a tank for dispersal when required. The other type of panel is called a solar panel, or more formally, a photovoltaic panel. Solar panels gather the light energy from the Sun and convert it into direct current electricity, that can then be changed to alternating current using an inverter. Resolute Solar Power (CSP) systems utilize lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to center a massive area of sunlight into a little ray.
